We developed a system that segments the microscopic image of skin biopsy to aid pathologists in the diagnosis of neuropathy. Working closely with UCSD Health and its partnering pharmaceutical company, we accelerated its research on reversing neuropathy by bringing efficiency and consistency to this time-consuming and often variable manual process in its multinational clinical trial. As the first author of the paper, I presented our result at MICCAI 2022, Singapore.

Reinforcement Learning algorithms can solve challenging control problems directly from image observations, but they often require millions of environment interactions to do so. We investigate the feasibility of pretraining and cross-task transfer in model-based RL, and improve sample-efficiency substantially over baselines on the Atari100k benchmark.
